An overwhelming proportion of responses to the UK government’s consultation on creating a smoke-free generation and restricting disposable vape sales were generated by AI bots, an analysis suggests.1The AI generated responses were mainly targeted at opposing restrictions on disposable vape sales.Researchers from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the University of Bath said that the number of AI responses—and the consistency of their opposition to government restrictions—“suggest a coordinated campaign” to swamp the consultation.The government consultation, which took place in 2023, sought public feedback on a range of proposals, including making it illegal to sell tobacco products to anyone born from 1 January 2009 and placing restrictions on vape packaging, presentati
