Clinical takeaway

Higher score = higher 90-day mortality and transplant priority.

When to use

Prognosis and liver-transplant prioritisation.

How it works

MELD = 3.78·ln(bilirubin) + 11.2·ln(INR) + 9.57·ln(creatinine) + 6.43; labs floored at 1.0, creatinine capped at 4.0 (or with dialysis). MELD-Na adds a sodium term when MELD > 11.

Key points

  • Higher score = higher 90-day mortality and transplant priority.
  • Creatinine is set to 4.0 with dialysis ≥ 2×/week.
  • Sodium is bounded to 125–137 in the formula.

The values below come from this tool's own example placeholders and are computed server-side with the formula shown on this page, so the arithmetic can be checked quickly. It demonstrates how to substitute values only — it is not clinical advice and not a real case.

Frequently asked questions

Does MELD-Na Score Calculator upload patient data? Where is it calculated?
Calculation runs locally in the browser; inputs and results are not uploaded. For licensed clinicians only; interpret with history, investigations and local protocols — not a diagnosis or prescription.
How is MELD-Na Score Calculator calculated in practice? Can you show a worked example?
